Role: Secondary School Receptionist (Maternity Cover)
Hourly Rate: £14.24 per hour
Location: Scarborough
We are working with a welcoming and well-established secondary school in Scarborough that is committed to providing a positive, supportive environment for both pupils and staff. The school is seeking to appoint a professional and organised Receptionist to join its administration team on a maternity cover contract, starting in September.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced administrator or receptionist who enjoys working in a busy, people-focused environment and takes pride in delivering a professional and friendly front-of-house service. As the first point of contact for visitors, parents, pupils and staff, you will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day operation of the school office.
The successful candidate will be organised, approachable and able to manage a varied workload whilst maintaining confidentiality and providing excellent customer service. Previous experience in a reception or administrative role is essential, and experience within a school environment would be advantageous.
Key responsibilities include:
• Acting as the first point of contact for visitors, telephone and email enquiries
• Providing a welcoming and professional reception service
• Supporting the school with a range of administrative and clerical duties
• Maintaining accurate pupil and staff records
• Assisting with diary management and general office administration
• Supporting colleagues with administrative queries
• Monitoring office supplies and processing orders where required
• Maintaining confidentiality and adhering to safeguarding and data protection procedures
This is a full-time, term-time only maternity cover position, working Monday to Friday from 8.00am to 4.00pm, starting on 7th September 2026 for approximately nine months. The role offers the opportunity to become part of a supportive school community where your contribution will make a genuine difference to the smooth running of the school.
