Inclusion Teacher – SEMH 
Location: York

Start Date: April 2026
Contract: Full-Time for 1-Year Maternity Cover

Castle Education is working with specialist provision in York to recruit a Primary Teacher for a maternity cover starting in April 2026.
This is not a typical upper-KS2 class. You will teach a small group of 6 pupils working at Key Stage 1 and Lower Key Stage 2 levels within a highly supportive SEMH environment.

🏫 About the ProvisionThe setting supports pupils aged 5–16 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs who find mainstream settings challenging.

The primary phase offers:

  • Strong focus on literacy, phonics and core skills
  • Explicit teaching of emotional regulation and social development
  • A holistic approach including PSHCE and wellbeing

Teachers are trusted to use their professional judgement to deliver meaningful differentiation and build strong, consistent relationships with pupils.
✅ The Ideal Primary Teacher Will Have

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Experience teaching in a primary setting
  • Experience supporting pupils with SEMH, SEND or behavioural needs
  • Strong behaviour management rooted in relationship-building
  • Confidence delivering highly differentiated lessons
  • A strong understanding of safeguarding and pupil wellbeing
